An okay read, but not quite for me

Buck Hole Hollow: Shannon had some elements I enjoyed—the small-town setting was nicely done and there’s clearly potential in the series. But overall, the story felt predictable and dragged in parts. The writing was a little stiff and clunky at times, which made it hard for me to stay immersed. („Shannon unsnapped the first snap on her shirt. As she unsnapped one on hers, she unsnapped one snap on Hank’s shirt. When she reached for his shirt for the next snap, Hank lost it and pulled her shirt open, then pulled the rest of the snaps apart on his shirt.“)

What really left me a bit disappointed was that I didn’t fall in love with the characters. I kept waiting to feel that spark, to be enchanted by Shannon and Hank, but it never quite happened. Apart from the steamy scenes I missed the emotional chemistry that makes a romance really shine. It made me sad not to connect with them the way I had hoped.

It wasn’t a bad book, just not one that truly hooked me. Other readers may connect with it more, but for me it fell a little flat, and I don’t think I’ll be continuing with the series.
