This is a new to me author that I found by chance.
There were scenes I would have liked to see.
Marley was called to see if she was attending the funeral. Surely her ex-MIL would have been aware of what happened to Sean? So an explanation for this call would have been interesting.
I also noticed it focused a lot on Michael and his fear of being left. Nothing wrong with this. Men's mental health is vitally important, and different people deal with things in different levels and in different ways. However, Marley's ex had come looking for her and shot her lover. I would have liked her point of view of how she came to terms with this and if she got help.
Saying this, it was a quick and short read. I read it in one go so it kept my interest. I thought the characters and their stories were interesting. I particularly liked Colin and Hank.
I loved the dialect, that gave a great sense of place. I liked the logging aspect of it as I know nothing about this, so it added something new for me.
Overall, I would read more from this author.
